A delegation from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College led by the Commandant of the College, Rear Admiral MBEICK-BAFFOUR, on the 10th April 2019 visited the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) at its Head Office on Tower Hills, to benefit from a presentation on SLIEPA’s contribution to achieving Sustainable Development.
The delegation comprised six college staff and thirteen students, of which four of these students are from other Africa countries.
The Acting Marketing and Communication Director, Mr. Francis Minah who also acted in the capacity of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), warmly welcomed the visitors on behalf of the CEO and SLIEPA. He said the purpose of their visit to SLIEPA is important because it gives the Agency the opportunity to showcase its contribution to Sustainable development and investment opportunities that have the tendency to reach millions of people.
In his submission Commandant Rear Admiral MBEICK-BAFFOUR, underscored that their presence in Sierra Leone is part of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College annual programs to visit selected Africa countries on research that forms part of the academic fulfillment for the Commandant Staff Forces Students.
He said, the research theme for the delegation to Sierra Leone is “Fostering an Inclusive Sustainable Development Agenda for Africa. He mentioned, that the delegation has visited other Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Sierra Leone. They had similar groups in four other African countries, he concluded.
Contributing to the above theme, the Export Development Manager of SLIEPA, Mr. Henry Fofanah, made a presentation with the title: “The Role of the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) in Achieving Sustainable Development: The Sierra Leone Perspective”
The presentation covered, SLIEPA in perspective, (Creation, Vision, Mission and Core activities) Sierra Leone’s Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2019-2023 vs Global Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs), Government’s priorities and the role of SLIEPA in sustainable development.
