The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), MR. Sheku Lexmond Koroma on the 18th January 2019 paid an inspection visit to the newly established SLIEPA Office in Kono District. His visit was to carefully view the office space and to making sure that it is well situated at a conducive office environment so that it would be easily accessible by its clients. The office space is situated at Bona Street, Fatima Complex, Koidu City.
In a brief statement at the premises of the newly established office, Mr. Koroma underscored that the establishment of the SLIEPA Kono Office is as a result of the strategic position of Kono District in terms of investment. Being that the office provides services for national companies and individuals involved in domestic and foreign trade, potential trade partners, public and private sector institutions involved in international trade.
As they sauntered round the building, the newly recruited Provincial Officer, Mr. Tamba S. Morsay, showed the CEO around by explaining the facilities that the building has and its relevance in terms of accessibility. Mr. Morsay said that the establishment of SLIEPA Office in Kono is not a mistake since the District comprises both domestic and foreign investors who are the office’s primary clients. Mr. Morsay assured the SLIEPA CEO and the public that the Kono office will work hard to diligently create partnership with other sister offices and as well render its full serves to domestic, foreign and potential investors.
In his response, Mr. Koroma expressed his gratitude to the people of Kono for their warmth hospitality and their goodwill to house the SLIEPA Office. He therefore called on the people to take ownership of the office and to make adequate use of the opportunity to improve on investment in the district. He called on the people to take investment as a priority and invest with what ever little that they have. He told them that he has brought SLIEPA to their doorstep in order to create an enabling environment for investment to thrive in the region.
Among other things, Mr. Koroma’s inspection visit however, coincided with President Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio’s ‘thank you visit’ to Kono District. The President’s visit was an auspicious occasion for the Kono people. The president was accompanied by an entourage of dignitaries including the Vice President, Dr Juldeh Jalloh, First lady, Mrs. Fatima Bio, ministers etc.
