Tumeric is a spice product similar to ginger and the variety was imported from Bangladesh for cultivation. It is very common in the diet menu of South East Asian nations of India, Bangladesh and Pakistan respectively. The last export of ginger from Sierra Leone to the tune of 110 metric tons was in 2007/2008 due to an International Trade Centre (ITC) project initiative to resume ginger production in the country.
