The Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), the appointed focal contact for the country’s participation in the Expo 2020 by the Government of Sierra Leone to work in close contact with Ambassador Timbo Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) held a meeting on Thursday 2nd March with Representatives of selected Ministries, Departments and Agencies to plan and put together a coordinated approach for Sierra Leone’s participation in the Exhibition.
Mr Raymond Gbekie, CEO SLIEPA in his remarks stated ‘this is about Sierra Leone and we cannot do it all alone hence this meeting to work together to give our best shot as a nation’. He further opined that 2020 seems to be far away but in reality the Expo 2020 has already started through the launch of some key initiatives by the organizers such as the EXPO LiVE an Innovation Impact Grant Programme for Entrepreneurs world over worth $100m and “Help us create a Mascot for Expo 2020 Dubai” which will become the Expo 2020 brand ambassador.
The Representatives of the various MDA’s committed to work closely to ensure Sierra Leone’s effective participation and showcase the country’s enormous comparative and competitive investment opportunities at the Exhibition come 2020.
On Friday 3rd March 2017, a Press conference was held at the SLIEPA office, Tower Hill to formally brief members of the Press of Sierra Leone’s participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai Exhibition.
