The Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry organized a one day Exporters Forum on Tuesday 11th July 2017 at the Shangri-La Entertainment Complex on the theme, ‘Making Export Easier’.
The Objectives of the Forum were to:
- To discuss procedural and regulatory obstacles faced by exporters in Sierra Leone.
- To develop, agree and validate, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Regulating Agencies and other key stakeholders a concrete action plan to address export issues of mutual interest, particularly in relation with procedures, licensing, customs procedures and non-custom processes at the quay
The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Honourable Ibrahim Mansaray who deputized the Minister of Trade and Industry, delivered a statement on behalf of his Ministry and declared the forum opened, while the Chairman SLIEPA Board of Directors Mr Oluniyi Robbin-Coker chaired the program. Participants from the public and private sector institutions including a cross sections of the export community and the fourth estate attended the program.
Thematic presentations were made by the Director of Export Development at SLIEPA, the Director of policy and research at MTI, the Deputy General Manager of SLPA, including the Head of compliance at NRA customs followed by a question and answer session.
