The Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) on the 24th of January 2017 signed a memorandum of understanding with Public Private Partnership Unit (PPPU) in the office of the Chief of staff. In his welcome statement Mr Raymond Gbekie the Chief Executive of SLIEPA expressed his profound thanks and appreciation to the leadership and team of the PPP Unit for the long and cordial relationship that has existed between the two entities over the period of time since the establishment of the two entities.” We are both intertwined by mandate and bound by relationship built over the years’’ remarked Mr Gbekie. He thanked his Excellency President Koroma for the establishment of these two institutions and his call for joint efforts amongst Government Agencies and Departments in promoting the country’s development agenda.
Mr Abu kamara Coordinator PPP Unit thanked the Chairman of the SLIEPA Board of Directors Mr Oluniyi Robbin – Coker for his role in supporting the development of the Private sector in Sierra Leone as also his personal role and contribution in the setting up of the PPP Unit as Private Sector Advisor to President Koroma then. Mr Kamara also echoed his institution’s role over the years in creating private interventions in public projects. He emphasized the value in the reasoning and formalization of the relationship with SLIEPA based on the long standing collaborative efforts in promoting Sierra Leone as a preferred investment destination.
The Chairman SLIEPA Board, Mr Robbin- Coker who to a very large extent could be referred to as the morale guarantor of the MoU because of his role in the establishment of both SLIEPA and the PPP Unit stated “these two entities have a business to work together”. He expressed thanks to our donor partners the World Bank, IFC, DFID, EU, AFDB, UNDP and IDB to name but a few on behalf of both entities for their support to these institutions over the years.
